Leading Interdisciplinary Teams, Committees, and Governance

Build effective IPAC oversight through purposeful committees, clear roles, and reliable follow-through. Learn to lead meetings that connect discussion with decisions, ownership, and action.

Included in the IPAC Lead Leadership Program for Long-Term Care.

Course Description

IPAC program performance depends on people and decisions across the organization. Committees and interdisciplinary teams provide essential oversight, but they need a clear purpose, appropriate representation, and a way to track what happens after each meeting.

This course explores how governance structures, reporting relationships, and committee leadership support an accountable IPAC program. You will examine the roles of key committees, strengthen meeting design and documentation, and clarify responsibility for follow-up. Practical examples show how to engage clinical, operational, occupational health, resident, and family perspectives while keeping recommendations connected to organizational priorities.

Prerequisites / required prior knowledge

Current and emerging IPAC Leads and designated backups with program responsibilities in long-term care.

Recommended prior knowledge: No formal prerequisite is required. Familiarity with long-term care operations, Routine Practices, Additional Precautions, surveillance, outbreaks, audits, and program documentation is recommended.
